Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Rick Riordan task force/Roles
The following member roles are available for editors with expertise in one or more areas related to running the Rick Riordan task force. General requirements for each role are listed in the table below. Please read the entire page before selecting a role for yourself.
It is important to note that no role is more important than another. Section Leaders, for example, are in charge of coordinating the efforts Section Staff, but are not responsible for actively maintaining Wikipedia articles. Likewise, the WP:NV Coordinator is not any more or less powerful than any RRTF member, regardless of role. Section staff
[edit]These roles are designed for editors who possess a special expertise about one of Rick Riordan's book series. There is no limit to the number of section staff members. If you would like to become a section staff member, please read the requirements below. If you feel you meet all of these requirements, list your name in the appropriate spot in the wikitable above.
Staff members must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a member of WP:RRTF in good standing.
Information on how to join can be found here. - Must have working knowledge of the relevant book series.
Example: A Kane staff member should be familiar with The Kane Chronicles and the mythology presented in it. - Must work to combat vandalism, promote articles to GA status, check factual accuracy, and otherwise maintain related pages.
- Must be a willing, accessible, and responsible ambassador for RRTF when interacting with other Wikipedians.
- Should place all relevant pages on personal watchlist.
- Should use a specialized userbox on their userpage.
Questions may be directed to 2ReinreB2 or to the appropriate Section Leader.
Section leader
[edit]There is only one section leader for any given section. Any member who meets the requirements stated below may place their name in the wikitable above to become a section leader. A Section Leader must meet all the requirements for a Staff member in addition to the following:
- Must actively organize staff members to maintain project pages, and work with other RRTF members on areas of overlap.
- Must be aware of the current status of the series; i.e. the publishing dates of the next book or companion, if any. (It is suggested that Section Leaders regularly visit Myth and Mystery and/or RickRiordan.com.)
Section Leaders are responsible for determining what subjects meet notability guidelines, creating articles for these subjects, and doing so through the correct channel. They are also responsible for identifying drafts/articles by non-RRTF members which need to be marked as covered by our scope. - Must be active in the affairs of the WikiProject. Must log in to Wikipedia to check messages at least every two months and respond promptly to queries.
- Must have a way to get access to the section's relevant published material.
- Example: A Percy Jackson section leader should own books in Percy Jackson & the Olympians or have access to a library with physical/ebook copies. They will be the official fact-checker when there is uncertainty among their staff.
In the event of a conflict or multiple candidates, the Leader will be selected by a vote on the project forum. Voting will be open for no less than two weeks and no more than two months. Questions may be directed to 2ReinreB2.
Other roles
[edit]WP:RRTF offers its members other roles not related to book series specializations. Knowledge of Rick Riordan's books is not required for any of these roles.
Requirements:
- Must be a member of WP:RRTF in good standing.
Information on how to join can be found here. - Must be active in the affairs of the WikiProject. Must log in to Wikipedia to check messages at least once a month. Must respond promptly to queries.
- Must be a willing, accessible, and responsible ambassador for WP:RRTF when interacting with other Wikipedians.
- Should use a specialized userbox on their userpage.
A few jobs have other specific requirements:
- Coding experts should be able to work well with wikitext, or at least understand how to look up relevant Help pages. There is only one Regent of Code (who organizes the Coding team and selects new projects), but there can be any number of Codies (who do the actual coding). For Regent of Code -- see Section Leader selection instructions. For Codies -- see Section Staff selection instructions.
- HR Rep and News Manager - These roles require a high level of activity, and thus must be filled by members who log in to Wikiepdia at least once a week. It is their job to keep RRTF members happy and informed of project activity.
- A second HR Rep or News Manager may be selected at the first's discretion, in order to allow each to take time off.
- WP:NV Coordinator - While not strictly a job run by WP:RRTF, the WP:NV Coordinator interacts a lot with the task-force, and is worth listing here. The WP:NV Coordinator is the liaison between our parent project WikiProject Novels and this task force. For information on taking over the role of WP:NV Coordinator, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/JobCentre, and contact the current WP:NV Coordinator about taking over their job.
