Editing suggestions

Goal

The minimum target goal for participants in the editing workshop is the following:

1. Register a Wikimedia account
2. Add 1 sentence and 1 citation to any Wikipedia article
3. Add 1 statement (structured data with citation) to any Wikidata item

Doing this much will leave participants with insight into how Wikimedia projects work.

Steps

1. For Wikipedia
   1. off Wikipedia and in library resources, find a publication with interesting facts
   2. identify a fact
   3. now browse Wikipedia for an article covering the topic of the fact
   4. click edit at Wikipedia article
   5. type your fact into the Wikipedia edit box
   6. click "cite" at top, and enter your citation
   7. click save
2. For Wikidata
   1. Consider Wikipedia's presentation of the Collective Biographies of Women database
   2. identify a fact
   3. now browse Wikidata for an item covering the topic of the fact
   4. insert the fact as structured data
   5. cite the source
   6. save
