This course will examine the history and evolving nature of the relationship between technology, crime, and security. We will study major issues in cyber security, including criminal and state-sponsored hacking; data, intellectual property, and identity theft; financial and personal data security; cyber-terrorism; tools and methods used to exploit computer networks, and strategies to protect against them; and new and emerging technologies.
The group project for this semester will consist of a substantial edit of a Wikipedia article related to a topic in the field of cybersecurity, cybercrime, and technology and security (“Wikipedia Group Project”).
