Latest Club Updates

[edit]
  • Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Break! Due to busyness and finals coming up soon, this week's Wikipedia workshop has been cancelled.
  • Some interesting updates this week regarding Wikipedia:
    • Wikipedia's annual donation drive has started - get ready to see those giant banners!
    • The Wikimedia Foundation has developed a new program called ORES. This sort of machine-learning program is able to identify whether edits are good or bad, and whether or not they were intentional. ORES also has capabilities such as rating the quality of articles. If you're interested in this sort of technology, here is a nice article that provides an overview.
  • From now on, each newsletter will include a featured photo. These images will come from the Wikimedia Commons, one of Wikipedia's sister sites that serves as a free image repository.
