Wikipedia:Yorkshire Women in Science Editathon 04.02.20

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

About the event

[edit]

There are around 1.6 million biographies on English Wikipedia, but only just over 18% are about women, and only 3.35% are about women in science and related fields.

This event aims to tackle this, by writing biographies in the world's biggest encyclopedia.

The event is open to all genders and identities, and is supported by Athena Swan, the University of York, and Wikimedia UK. No prior Wikipedia experience is needed as full training will be given, but please create an account in advance (see the link below.)

Worklist

[edit]

Before starting work on an article, please make sure that the subject is notable enough for an article on Wikipedia. If you are starting a new article, please check that the subject does not already have an article on Wikipedia. If you are improving an article, please make sure that it's the correct subject - every effort has been made to ensure that the articles linked below are the correct ones, but best to check!

Articles to create

[edit]

Please note that new articles should aim for a minimum of 250 words, and reference at least 3 external, independent, reliable secondary sources. Text MUST NOT be copy & pasted from any other source, unless that source is openly licensed. If the latter is true, this text must be marked as such. We recommend that new articles are started in Draft space.
