Companies listed

The list originally had more, but some were using references that merely used statements such as "Apple is thought to have acquired", etc. That's why I have changed the list and am only referencing SEC reports, because those are pretty reliable. Gary King (talk) 15:50, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Apple must have acquired Silicon Color as they are selling their products now. The Silicon Color page says this too (I believe that was your edit). I can't think why they aren't reported in SEC though, are you sure? (ec) Gary, I can understand that, but there are plenty of reliable Mac sources, such as the published books I mentioned, and also Macworld and other Mac trade publications and consumer magazines. At the moment, the article misses out quite a few important acquisitions. I just did a search on Google Books for "apple acquired" which returns 92 results, and "apple purchased" which returns 188 results. Most of these are mentions of the NeXT acquisition, but there are others such as "In the fall of 1991, Apple purchased rights from Connectix Corporation to their program Mode 32, which enabled 32-bit addressing on these Macintoshes,...". You might also want to list names which Apple paid for, such as spending $1 million for rights to the 'Classic' name used for the Macintosh Classic (this is mentioned in the Apple Confidential book). They should be, yes. Also, you can only see snippets of information on most book searches, and I'm not going to go and buy loads of books to find half of them are useless. - tholly ^--Turnip-- 16:10, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

(ec again) How far back do the SEC filing records go? IIRC, they go back to 1994 but I'm not positive on that. Is it actually a requirement of Apple to report all acquisitions, or only those of corporations? Some of Apple's acquisitions were a long time ago.
