Marking multi-image requests

Please don't use the {{done}} template to mark when an individual image of a multi-image request (such as e.g. the scout logo one) has been fixed. Using {{done}} tricks the archiving bot into archiving the whole section even if work is still ongoing. Instead just use the text Done or similar. /Lokal_Profil 14:46, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

rsvg arrows

Downloading SVG files

I am primarily a Firefox user. Once a SVG file is uploaded onto the server, how do I download the file again? I can view the SVG file in its nominal size but not download it. If I try the same thing in Internet Explorer, I am able to download the SVG file. --JovianEye (talk) 05:15, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

I use IE to download SVGs. I don't know how to do so in Safari nor in Firefox. --ZooFari 05:17, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Try one of the following:

• On the page to view the SVG file in its normal size, click File > Save Page As ... in the menu bar
• Just as you are about the open the page to view the SVG file in its normal size, right click on the preview of the SVG file and choose Save Link As...

Similar in Safari. (The "issue" is that Safari/Firefox can display SVG files as images. IE cannot and so imply downloads the file.) -- RA (talk) 11:26, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Additionally, in FF, Safari or Chrome just right-click any non-graphical link to the svg file. be careful of saving an actual displaying image as a lot of the time mediawiki converts the svg to png so that browsers like IE can view it. I just figured out based on your inputs that in Firefox left-click on the SVG file to view it in its nominal size. Then right-click on the file -> Save Page As -> Save. Move to commons tag for other-language Wikipedias?

Sorry, I know this is probably not the right place to put this, but is there an international {{Move to commons}} tag for other-language Wikipedias? SVG files and Illustrator

Hi. I usually use Adobe Illustrator CS3 on a Mac to draw, but I noticed that Svg files created with Inskcape and edited with Illustrator are not displayed correctly by any of my browsers: the image moves from the center to the right, and is partly off the page. I have found a workaround pasting the drawing into Inkscape and saving the SVG file there, but I would prefer using only Illustrator, which I know far better. I have just started using SVG, so I know next to nothing about it. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?Urashima Tarō --(talk) 02:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

What I do is to edit it, save it as an .ai file, then do a 'save as' svg, making sure I use SVG v1.1 and convert any text to outlines. Having done it this way I can't remember having had any similar problems to the one you mention. perhaps if you gave us an idea of which images you have been trying to edit we could pinpoint it more. --Fred the Oyster (talk) 09:59, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Get NASA to release diagrams in SVG

Am I asking in the right place?

A while ago, I created some diagrams showing the track diagrams for various stations on the Hawkhurst Branch Line. Apart from the two diagrams in use on that article, the others went into the individual articles about Horsmonden, Goudhurst, Cranbrook and Hawkhurst stations. The signalling diagrams for each station are available online, and could be used to improve the diagrams by adding the signalling. This would mean the creation of a number of .svg icons for the signals, which would also need to be added to WP:RDT/C, possibly under a new section (Signals). Another article which would be improved by the addition of signals is the Marden rail crash, but these were 3 aspect colour lights at the time. Is anybody able/willing to assist in the creation of these icons? Mjroots (talk) 14:45, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
