Proposed barnstars

I have created a couple barnstars for editors of Pakistan-related articles. Proposals for their names are required. Also leave your opinion about both of these stars:

As for the names, I dont have any good ones, but here are a few I thought up:

• The Star of Jinnah - (ex For Justice or Hard Work or Acheivements)
• The Defender of the Pak - (ex For Neutrality or Upholding Law & Order)

Normally, DYK isn't really an achievement which projects show off, as most DYKs remain B-Class or Start-class and some contain very few references. DYK is just an occurence where a decent sized article is written within 5 days of creation. — Nobleeagle ^[TALK] [C] 00:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

It's a very narrow view on WP:DYK. They are also chosen on contents. The purpose for putting them on project page is to create awareness and encourage participation. Otherwise many FA's also end up into B-class--IslesCape^Talk 14:29, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Lahore Resolution

Who drafted it? Yahya01 (talk · contribs) claims it was Muhammad Zafrulla Khan while a little later in the article, it claimed Sikandar Hayat Khan. Both of the info have references beside them, but only one of them can be true. So, who was it? --Ragib 16:35, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Among various other proposals one was the Cambridge student Chaudhri Rehmat Ali's, and another of Sir Mohammad Iqbal's. Now let us see what the Englishman's own scheme was.

When they [British ed.] couldn't tie up with Sikandar Hayat Khan and the Muslim League Working Committee, they rejected all the proposals offered by the Muslims, and asked one of the Muslim members of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Chaudhri Zafrullah, to draw up a plan for two dominions. That plan was duly forwarded by the Viceroy to London. Later, on March 12, 1940, the Viceroy wrote to the Secretary of State saying that he had asked for certain clarifications of the scheme. He had been told by Sir Zafrullah that he, Zafrullah, would submit the details later but meanwhile it should never be disclosed who had drawn up that plan, though the Viceroy could use it in whatever way he liked. Writes the Viceroy:

"I may do what I like it, including sending a copy to you; thirdly, the copies have been passed to Jinnah and I think to Hydari (Sir Akbar Hydari, then Prime Minister of the Nizam of Hyderabad), and, fourthly, while he, Zafrullah, cannot of course admit its authorship, his document has been prepared for adoption by the Muslim League with a view to be given the fullest publicity."

The Viceroy explains that although the scheme had been drawn up at his instance, since Zafrullah was Qadiani, the Muslims' knowing that it was his handiwork would make it suspect in their eyes from the very start. Consider the dates. This letter was written on April 12, 1940. The plan had been sent earlier. A copy of it had also gone to Mr. Jinnah, and also to Sir Hydari (for the financing of it). Obviously it was much the same scheme that was adopted as the Pakistan Resolution just at that time, on March 23, 1940.

Thus the Viceroy had kept pressing the Muslims for a plan, but when they couldn't come up with any of their own he set to sponsoring one himself.

How is banglapedia more reliable then the people involved at the time i.e. viceroy and official British papers of the time? PS: What is the source of info of Banglapedia? Banglapedia is also written by humans and long after the event took place. You are being ridiculous by completely ignoring the documents of the time (1940) in favour of something that was verbally quoted years after the event occurred. Religious prejudice seems to be the only basis of this irrational and unjust behaviour. The way you have quoted Banglapedia and then quickly tried to do rv without discussion shows that you are clearly a dishonest person. I suppose this is what your Sunni religion teaches you…defend your religion’s “honour” at all cost no matter what the facts are. Good for you.. You probably deserve this religion.

Durand Line and related issues

Since the Durand Line deals with the demarcating line and international border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, I suggest this topic be also added to WikiProject Pakistan as well.

Some of the latter paragraphs I have seen tend to show more of the Afghanistan viewpoint without sufficient backing whatsoever and revisiting the 1893 agreement, as well as the greyish stature and history of the Khanate of Kalat, which some people put it as something which guaranteed Balochistan independence and making it something separate and special from the Indian Independance Act of 1947 is something a bit too difficult to believe given the status of Jammu & Kashmir and Hyderabad Deccan that were even more prominent princely states and yet they had to choose or were forcibly made to choose which country to join. It doesnt add up seeing the Khanate of Kalat being anything different as NO princely state was allowed independance - as far as I know - so essentially the Khan of Kalat had to choose and he went against the act and hence gave Pakistan legitimate claim of taking action, similar to what India did in Jammu & Kashmir, Junagadh, Hyderabad Deccan and many many other princely states. Why all the finger pointing on Pakistan then ?

I suggest more research in these matters as both issues arent completely black & white, rather with heavy shades of grey prevalant. Peace to all Suprah™ 13:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello from WP:TENNIS! I've found two articles on the same Pakistani tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi. The Pakistani Diaspora

I think it's high time we had an article dedicated to the expat Pakistani population, which not only is huge in number, but have been quite sucessful and a driving force in the economic revival of Pakistan. It's long overdue! We currently have seperate topics on Pakistani Americans & Pakistani Canadians as well as British Pakistanis, but we have no one true article to sum it all up. Anyone interested?

Jam (tribe) and Junejo

Hi there. As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Red Link Recovery I came across the article about Junejo and the broken link was about Jam. I normally don't simply add a missing parenthesis without at least checking if there's a more appropriate link. In researching this, I found Jam (tribe) which from the context could have been what should be linked to. It then occurred to me that if those two articles are essentially about the same topic that they probably should be merged. WikiPakistan Project on the Emergency

Some folks might know about WikiPakistan, a Wikia devoted to Pakistan. I have created pages there on the current situation.

Stranded Pakistanis, Biharis or Bihari Muslims?

Yes all three exist, carrying different project-banners for WikiProject Ethnic groups, WikiProject Cold War, WikiProject Pakistan and WikiProject Bangladesh. I have proposed a merger of all three, but what would the title be? As soon we can decide on the title, I can volunteer to do the merging. Criticism on the Institute of Business Administration

A blog apparently has surfaced and appears to have valid criticism on how the university is being run. i think it should be reviewed for addition under the section "Institute of Business Administration, Karachi" either as an external link or under a new heading "Criticism"

I agree with UzEE as this blog it seems is written by a student and projects views that are biased. Some blogs however can be trusted and may be used as references. Request for Correcting Spelling

This is the correct spelling as per the Wikipedia manual of style. See British spelling.Ragib (talk) 06:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

This makes me wonder, should we be using the British spelling or the American spelling. If you ask me I would go for the British spelling as that's what is being taught at schools in Pakistan.
