Born in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, he played for Law Scotia, Dundee United, Broxburn United, Albion Rovers, Armadale, Airdrieonians, Manchester United, Tranmere Rovers, Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle.^[2]^[3]
