Total sales figures

[edit]

Went down the rabbit hole for the sales figures of the marketplace. Before Silk Road went down, there were researchers who provide estimates for Silk Road sales figures. Those figures should no longer be used because FBI provided much more accurate data after closing Silk Road down. The actual total sales across its lifespan is either 9.5 million (according to the criminal complaint) or 9.9 million (Silk Road prosecutors complete the bizarre DPR murder-for-hire story | Ars Technica) bitcoins.

Based on the value of bitcoin at the time of transaction, this is 183 million dollars.

Based on the value of bitcoin at the time of criminal complaint, this is 1.2 billion dollars. Pinkslimo (talk) 00:33, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ekaljac's additions

[edit]

I don't even know where to begin. Awkward wording ("Ulbricht spent many hours investing his time into the Boy Scouts" "He began to believe the idea that no one could stop him and anything that he could create." "Still, his family continues to fight for his freedom and it is unlikely it will end.") Bad sourcing, including citing Wikipedia itself. Bad info (Force and Bridges plead out before trial.)
