Blades players contracts
The issue with players contracts has been a bit of a mess this season. When Wilson turned up they decided to give all the players a fresh start so never published a list of released players. There was only really Kozluk and France out of contract anyway (although Thomas may have gone then based on the article you found). They decided to give Kozluk an opportunity so retained his registration and apparently they're negotiating with France to try and get him to retire - there's some stupid clause that means we have to keep him on the staff as long as he's injured unless he retires - ludicrous though that is!! The others are still there as far as I know - and will have numbers. They'll probably come to light following cup games etc so I reckon they should stay in the squad until there's some sort of confirmation that they've left.Bladeboy1889 (talk) 12:03, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- France will still be registered as a player - that's the bit they'll be trying to change by getting him to retire :o). By my reckoning any notable player at the club should be listed in the squad unless there's any indication that some of them have left (I don't think any have although Gardos isn't very evident anywhere. As for the number seven shirt - I was assuming they're saving that for Xavi when he comes. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 15:24, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Parrino and France
I get the feeling Parrino is only on loan - the article doesn't really make it very clear but the comments are more in line with a loan rather than a full deal. Unfortunately the rest of the media has simply repeated the same line. I'll keep an eye out for some sort of confirmation. Also - I'm starting to think we should probably call it quits and remove France from the playing squads as he's never going to feature again (hopefully). I was hoping for some sort of confirmation by now and I think they may still be negotiating so my suggestion would be to remove him from the squads but not list him as transferring out on the season page just yet and try and look out for some confirmation of what's going on later in the season. That sound reasonable (as the only other person seemingly interested in updating the Blades pages) Bladeboy1889 (talk) 16:31, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Soccerbase has updated France to having left (pretty sure it wasn't listed as that last time I looked) so I'm going to add him in as such on the season. He may well still be hanging around the club but I think we can assume his playing contract is over! Bladeboy1889 (talk) 16:06, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Injuries
I think injury lists are a bit of overkills and are frowned upon by project:football (not that that worries me really, there's too many miserable buggers in that bunch trying to lay down the law.) Never the less I think it's very difficult to quantify and isn't really that notable - maybe if someone gets a major injury that is well reported then it's worth putting it in the overview but otherwise it'll be way too difficult to keep up with and know who is out through injury and who isn't. And as you say - with our current squad the list will be longer than the first team one - Flynn and McDonald already out injured possibly long term, Morgan, France, Ertle, Evans, Taylor, Aksalu all been out for months, Williamson probably due for his annual back surgery soon...
So my vote is to stay away from it! Bladeboy1889 (talk) 22:12, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

New League table on season article
I've added in a new version of the league table I spotted on some of the other team season pages - it should save having to update it manually each week as it's a centralised template. That said I think we should move it as it seems a bit odd now as it's stuck in the middle of all the squad info. How about shifting it above the squad list? Or maybe below the squad details stuff? Thoughts? Bladeboy1889 (talk) 08:40, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Gardos
Found this here: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/andras-gardos/transfers/spieler_149606.html
The site is a bit haphazard but it does seem to say that he's definitely back in Hungary as there are match stats and looking at the transfer details it seems to say that his spell in the UK was only a loan. Apparently France has definitely retired through injury as he was interviewed in a Hull programme a couple of weeks ago but I've found nothing online to confirm this as yet apart from in forums so can't cite it. It may just be me being anal but I do wish they'd sort out their communications at Bramall Lane and actually keep the website up to date with this sort of info - it may be only small fry but it's stuff like this that makes people think they're hiding things. They can't even be bothered to publish the results of the 'Player of the Month' voting! Bladeboy1889 (talk) 10:34, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

More stuff for the season article
Bored this morning so coming up with more stuff to spice up the Blades season article. I've posted info on the talk page in case anyone else wants to contribute ;o) Talk:2011–12 Sheffield United F.C. season Bladeboy1889 (talk) 13:52, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

RoK: areas of control references disagreement
Actually nowhere in the citations is stated that RoK has control of most of Kosovo's territory. Neither it is claimed that institutions of R.of Serbia have control of the Northern Kosovo - it even supports the opposite of that. Status quo doesn't have much to do with this disagreement but accuracy. Status quo is IMO for politics - here we write encyclopedia. I don't think the wording should be rewritten, the way it is now it is somewhat povish so it might be even excluded. Why, because as I said the information about the situation on the field as probably the very situation itself have changed. Read the post on my talk page which is above your comment, you can find that another editor agrees with some of my opinions. --biblbroks (talk) 07:35, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- When looking at your citation Bogdanovic stated that RoS won't give up on institutions, not that institutions have control over anything. And what I wrote is povish not POV - the wording as it is now leads the reader to an opinion that RoK and RoS have some control, but I'd say if anyone is in control, UNMIK and EULEX are. --biblbroks (talk) 10:19, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I am not denying, nor trying to deny anything. It is you who has an opinion and who is claiming something. Claims unsupported by sources. You are trying to put words in my mouth - words that would support your position. And that would be a position of me being a POV pusher. That constitutes as bending the truth... if not worse. Have you at all read the comment on my talk page - the one above yours? --biblbroks (talk) 14:46, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for this but I must say that now you are outright lying. I haven't stated anywhere that UNMIK and EULEX are in control of Kosovo. By saying that I have you are lying. Also, nowhere in the sources you provided is there a claim that RoK is controlling anything or that RoS is controlling anything. It is you who has to provide sources for claims that they do. Even if you accomplish that, they will be just claims not necessarily the truth. --biblbroks (talk) 15:36, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Williams
He'll get number 30 again as FA rules say a player can't change numbers part way through a season. (Although I suppose a player could leave early on, a new player be allocated their number afterwards and then the first come back on loan and need a new number... though it's unlikely). Should be confirmed today as I'm guessing he'll be on the bench.Bladeboy1889 (talk) 08:36, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Some othler artices to consider
Found this Man U one List of Manchester United F.C. players (and it's spin off ones) - would be a lot of research as the figures in these articles obviously include cup apps but they would be good additions. The current squad would be a pain to keep updated but as long as there was a rigorous datestamping of updates it could be updated every few months. I'd be inclined to sort by total number of apps rather than date order - although whoever did those ones probably found it easier to keep up to date as the current squad would all be grouped together? Bladeboy1889 (talk) 12:31, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Football squad player2
I noticed you reverted this template on the Rangers F.C.. You'd better get going removing it from the MLS teams pages as well. Discuss here if you disagree: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Watford_current_squad 15:56, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- My initial feeling was total dislike and although I'm still not sure about it the problem became more about technical aspects i.e. for older mobile devices or Screen readers for people who have sight issues. In that respect was why i proposed a trial for two reasons the main one being consensus and sorting out any problems with it. WFC began placing notices on article talk pages advising that they may be taking place in a trial.[1] This was to assertion any strong objections to a trial and then after that bring a wider audience who don't take part at WP:Footy to comment whether good or bad and then either implement or if the majority are against it halt further rollout. One thing thats a plus is it can be tweaked and gives opportunity for squad photos to be placed down the side.[2].Edinburgh Wanderer 17:37, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I see you're falling foul of the WP:Football thought police :o) Been there and got the t-shirt. It's all a load of bull - the current table works fine on screen readers (could be improved but to say it doesn't work is untrue) The new table is actually worse because of the lengthy repetition of each element and it's considerably worse for the average user as repetition of hundreds of identical links are bad for readability and usability. As for mobile browsers - the current one works fine, not ideal but are we really going to change things so that it works on outdated technology? Perhaps we should make sure it works on Netscape or IE6? All irrelevant arguments. It also leaves a whole swathe of blank space down the side - most clubs will not have enough images to fill it up to make it anything other than a waste of space, plus it's interesting that Heart's is being shown as an exemplar when at least two of those images aren't copyright free - are we encouraging more unlicensed images? Also WP guidelines say that colour should not be used as decoration - surely colouring the squad list based on club kit goes against that? But to top it off it looks really crap - like it was designed by a ten year old about fifteen years ago. But good luck trying to get any of the holier than thou people involved in WP: Football to listen. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:00, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've just re-read the whole discussion and some points are hilarious - the exemplar alt tags on the Watford article comments are mind boggling. That really is not how to do alt tags!! Its really great that's there's a hardcore of people who are on WP:Football all the time and as soon as anyone else comments or objects they resort to name calling and act like petulant school children. It's that sort of attitude that has at times led me to consider giving up updating pages!Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:24, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- True - but then part of me wants to take them on and blow holes in all all their ridiculous arguments. A lot of what is being aid about this issue is plain wrong but being wrapped up in technical gabble by people in the hope it will bamboozle other users and so just allow them to get their own way. If you do continue your discussions let me know and I may wade in to lend a hand.Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:37, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ive notified all the championship clubs they should have been notified. I was only going to look at all the articles this week so it wouldn't have been implemented there once realised they were never notified. The best way to see who is for or against this is a trial it would show clearly what opinion is rather than the main project deciding.Edinburgh Wanderer 19:57, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- In regards to screen readers just read your comment on Blades i tried it using the test version on wiki accessibility and it did have an issue. If you use one and don't have that problem then it would be helpfull to mention it. That was something i got shot down on every time as i don't have access to one. My point was like mobile browsers do they all actually have that problem. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:01, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

information
I saw you post on LAz17's userpage. There has been more discussion, though that has been moved from his page to here, [3] (Mike085 (talk) 19:24, 22 January 2012 (UTC)).
International games
Was going to mention that - I'm wondering if we ought to maybe put a cut off point for the level of call up? It's just that the club will rarely give details of what's been going on below U21 level so keeping it accurate might be very difficult unless you're volunteering to trail the various FA websites looking for our youth players?
Also - made a big start on the List of Sheffield United players page - am about half way through! Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:30, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Umm other clubs mention them and because we're hardly going to see any international caps this season I see no harm in it. Yeh I'll give you a hand with that later, I'll look into it properly tomorrow. I was even thinking about editing some images especially for it such as the licence free images because they're so old and some more recent ones which we have permission to use. So obviously Morgs and Monty would get a pic there due to the amount of caps and captaincy. Then include legends like William "Fatty" Foulke and co, try get pics of Brian Deane and Joe Shaw etc. IJA (talk) 19:39, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- No worries on the list - I'll finish it some point this week probably - I'm just going through the Who's Who and adding them in letter by letter - it's easy enough as I just cut and paste the rows and use the same ref (updated obviously) for each. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 19:44, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- We have images for Monty and Quinn to add and Crssy should be near 100 by now. When it says 100 appearances, is that all comps? IJA (talk) 19:46, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- It's all comps excluding friendlies and WW1 and WW2 games - the whos who guide I have is the only place that the full stats appear I know of so I'm going through that then was going to add in the more recent players (it only goes up to 2008). I'm thinking that keeping them in alpha order is the best best!Bladeboy1889 (talk) 20:18, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- £45? I'm sure it was only a tenner in the club shop last time I was there. no worries - I'm happy to keep chugging through them - just wanted to make you aware what I was doing really. Agree about cutting down some of the images - will make them more manageable. Once I've finished the list I'll expand some of the other info and redo the intro (in line with the Man U version which got used as a featured list). Once that's done I think we can move some of the images into other areas of the article just to give a bit of variety.Bladeboy1889 (talk) 13:17, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Dodds pic
Not sure we can use that image - there's a note on the image page saying it should only be used on a couple of Blackpool articles. I've commented it out for the time being. You could post a note on the image's talk page asking if it could be used and see what the original owner says?Bladeboy1889 (talk) 13:21, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Squad lists
You may be pleased to know I couldn't resist it any longer and waded into the squad list debate. I'm expecting mobs of people outside my door with flaming torches and pitchforks any moment now. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 16:19, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Re: Jock Dodds photo
I'm not too sure of the ins and outs of the image copyrights around Wikipedia at the moment, to be honest. It always did change with the wind, and it's been so long since I've looked at it that I could be well off if I suggest something. You could always just add it to your article and see if anyone has any input afterwards. - Dudesleeper talk 23:31, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited North–South divide (England), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Morrison (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Blades Taskforce
Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Sheffield United task force
A much neglected group - but might be worth resurrecting as it's a reasonable place to discuss updates to various pages and would be a good place to list articles that need some work (the list of players threw up loads that could do with looking at.)
