The Jungle Book

Have you watched the trailer of The Jungle Book (2016 film)? This looks like a super adventure. I was blown away with the trailer. The sound effects along with the visuals is a standout. Plus, Scarlett Johansson's voice as Kaa is very haunting. Never got excited like this in a long long time. Eagerly waiting for this one.Krish | Talk 05:14, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

I did see the trailer, and I am awaiting the film release. Don't you think that despite being a Disney film, it looks like another one of those dark and gritty reboots? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:22, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yep. I guess Maleficent's success inspired such reboots. Branagh however, pretty much stuck to the original 1950 film of Cinderella. This 2016 version of Kipling's novel too is pretty good, especially the CGI. King Louie's and Kaa's characters are more darker. Johansson's voice is haunting. But none can come close to Sterling Holloway w.r.t humour. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:24, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I agree with both of you. The Jungle Book looks like Nolan's take on Batman and it looks spellbinding. CGI is another plus point of the film. But, Maleficent was not a great film like Cinderella was. I also believe that it could have been darker.Krish | Talk 05:32, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Krish!: I actually meant Maleficent's "commercial" success. Cinderella was really excellent, especially the portions where the mice make the palace men and the prince notice her in the climax. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:36, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah! Absolutely right. Cinderella was a whole new different experience. I did like Maleficent too. Hey, we all like watching good people getting their due and loving each other. Don't we? Most of the Disney films are about that and i love it. Cate Blanchett's performance in the film was something. I never loved a bad character like this one. I was thinking if the Stepmother could also live happily ever after with Cinderella and Kit.Krish | Talk 05:43, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Krish!: Speaking of Blanchett, she's Kaa in the 2017 film by our precious. Watch the 1950 film too if you want to see Lady Tremaine in action. Blanchett couldn't have lived happily with Kit because that's how her character is. She would still feel jealous of Cinderella. It's in her nature. I liked Bonham Carter in the film very much though. She tried a positive role for a change. I totally despised her in the HP films and for killing him too. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:50, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Ssven2: I meant to say that she was so wonderful as Lady Tremaine that i wanted if she could be a good stepmother. I love Blanchett so much. She is easily the best actress since Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster. Only Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence comes close to her. Speaking of Carter, she was fab as The Fairy Godmother and Bellatrix was very evil. I loved her in Harry Potter films.Krish | Talk 06:35, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Krish!: BTW, caught up with Age of Ultron a couple of days ago on Blu-ray. Simply amazing! Spader and Olsen rock! Banner does fall in love with Romanoff, but doesn't go forward with it for both their benefits. I felt that there was something going on in the first film as well between the duo when she goes to India to find him. Where does it leave Betty Ross then? Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:52, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
@Ssven2: I had seen the film 7 times in theatre because i really loved (and enjoyed) the film. Olsen as Scarlett Witch was, hands down, the best of the lot. These films are getting so much exciting.Krish | Talk 06:35, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
I think you both forgot that it was Burton's Alice in Wonderland that possibly inspired Disney to go dark in their live action remakes of their own films. But it was more creepy than gritty. As for the Banner-Betty Ross relationship, bad that Whedon didn't think about that. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:55, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Ah yes! Burton did it in 2010. Thanks for that. I would call it more of an Errol Flynn, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. type of swashbuckling film than creepy (particularly when she goes to rescue the Hatter and her battle with the Jabberwocky). — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:59, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Agree, all the credit of this "Animated->Live-action" goes to Alice in Wonderland. However, it was very boring film IMO. I hope it's sequel is better. Plus, can do anything to watch Emma Watson as Belle in the Beauty and the Beast. God too many upcoming films that I'm excited about.Krish | Talk 06:35, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Will 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book from the 90s also count as part of Disney's series of live action adaptations? Kailash29792 (talk) 06:43, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yep, it does. But the Glenn Close film is not that dark (more along the lines of the Home Alone films), while the 1994 film is quite dark, especially the way Boone, Buldeo, Harley and Wilkins die. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 06:48, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
But, i don't think so. 101 Dalmations was an average film in terms of critical and commerce aspects. The 1994 Jungle Book won't be counted as a Disney film because it was not produced by Disney. It was just an adaptation. Actually, the 2016 film is the remake/reboot/ live-action version of the 1967 film. Only the Walt Disney Animated Classics are getting transformed in to live-action films and not other ones.Krish | Talk 06:55, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Oops! that was a wrong link. This is the films which are regarded as the Walt Disney Animated Classics.Krish | Talk 06:58, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Moodu Pani GOCE edit

The GOCE edit has been completed by User:Corinne as per this edit. I have removed the note at the GAN page as a result. BTW, do feel free to leave comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Rod Steiger/archive1. Ssven2 Speak 2 me 02:12, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

The article looks very much ready for GA (given that it was recently copyedited too). Would you like to nominate it or shall I do the honours? Your call. The reason is because Sriram's last edit was on 4 February 2015, 7 months ago. I don't think it's likely he'll be returning anytime soon. Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:22, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

You may nominate it. I talked to Sriram via mail, and he said will certainly return, although he did not specify exactly when. Just get the article copyedited once again (by a different editor) if needed, but it otherwise looks GA worthy. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:27, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
And another thing Ssven2; This is a video of the 50th year celebrations of KNI, uploaded on YouTube by Behindwoods. See where you can use it in the article. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:37, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
I have just nominated it for GA. I'll look into the video tomorrow. The film should have been promoted long ago IMO. Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:41, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

@Ssven2: Hey guys! Thanks for taking the article to GA. And I see Anniyan is at GAN. Thanks for bringing my hardwork to fruition. Btw, my comeback to active editing is definitely on the cards. -- Sriram speak up 16:10, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Welcome back Sriram. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:17, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Kailash, though I understand your feelings re: this edit we cannot link to copyright violations. If the interview is uploaded by an authentic site, we could link to that. Or, if this was from a regular interview series on TV, we could cite the series and episode number the way we would for any TV series. Ms. Bhattacharjee, I will add it back, if you tell me what useful info from the article I can add. We are an encyclopaedia, and we do not take gossipy content. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:44, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Okay! Not Gossip!

I wrote about spikes trend starting from the movie. I described 5 scenes from the movie which were influential in making it such a cult movie. I wrote about the fort where one of the best scenes in the movie was shot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Debarupa Bhattacharjee (talkcontribs) 09:57, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

See this!

A whole lot of credit goes to them as well as to the first time director, Farhan Akhtar for making the moments in the movie believable and realistic, which was actually the harder thing to do considering the trend of Bollywood movies at that time.

In fact, it’s not just the characters, everything in the movie – right from the music to the dialogues to the costumes, each aspect that goes on to making a film, makes it the most epic youth movie of Indian Cinema. Every frame seems to resonate with the sound of freshness and novelty throughout the movie. Whether it’s the trend-setting hair styles (it brought in the trend of Spikes), or the simple yet chic costumes, or the urban-friendly sets, Dil Chahta Hai was way cooler than what we as loyal viewers of the Indian films were accustomed to watch. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the lyrics by Javed Akhtar are so contemporary that even today, thirteen years after the movie released, each song from the album whether it’s the title song, or “Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe”, or “Woh Ladki Hai Kahan” can be a part of any current album and they would still sound hipper than most of the songs that are topping the charts presently. The songs, just like the movie, are timeless.

Every single moment in the title song of the movie is special and echoes the main themes of the movie that is friendship, laughter and life. Whether it’s the Aamir’s pretending-to-eat-the-fish moment, the chemistry among the characters in the car, three of them mocking their shadows in the sand, the Chandora Fort where Aamir says “Hum dost the, hai aur hamesha rahenge”, this song is a movie in itself. Goa never looked more appealing before so much so that I am sure lots of youngsters must have booked their tickets for Goa right after watching this movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Debarupa Bhattacharjee (talkcontribs) 10:04, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Anniyan has been nominated for Did You Know

Chennai Express, in no shape or form, is a thriller though. It is a pure action comedy with some romantic elements in it.

How have you been doing? Can't say that my 2015 is going great. Thinking of starting work on Piku during the Puja vacations. I've seen it 3-and-a-half times already and it has become one of my favourite films ever. Also, what happened to Krimuk90? --Jionpedia 12:07, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

Aalavandhan

Planning to take it to GA?  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:27, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

That is very likely if I manage to cross 40 refs, and get more reviews. But it's odd how the film found place in Pride, despite it being a failure during its release. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:33, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
Aalavandhan is one of the most underrated films in Tamil cinema IMHO. Great stuff from Kamal Haasan (particularly as Nandu). The climax could have been better executed. It did win the National Film Award for Best Special Effects. But, to me, his best is Anbe Sivam as it enhanced my faith in God even more. Truly, God is love and vice-versa.  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, what do you think about this upcoming blockbuster by Suraj Barjatya?Krish | Talk 04:54, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Impressive how Salman is showing his versatility, when I thought he was an action hero only. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:09, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Kailash, haven't you watched his previous collaborations with Barjatya or David Dhawan yet? Or even KKHH, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam? He is definitely more than a punch-dialgoue speaking, shirt-removing, muscle and abs showing, "Ek bar jab aaya jawani" type action hero (love the song and his dance though). He needs to perform in more roles like this. BTW, that's the Salman I love more than the action hero from the Dabangg films. He's a really good dancer too, FYI!  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 05:21, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Actually I have seen HDDCS, and he did show great versatility in the 90's. I think he still shows, but I guess the audiences largely identify him with action roles only. The same with SRK who, despite performing in a variety of roles, is more identified with romantic films like DDLJ, KKHH, JTHJ, etc. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Well, Salman is afterall "Salman Khan". He has the talent to be an actor par excellence. Unlike, Akshay Kumar who did a great film Baby and nobody went to see, everybody will definitely go watch Salman in a dark film. The only problem is that he don't want to do such kind of films. Salman did a fab job in all his collaborations with Rajshri films. In addition, he did gave award worthy performance in films such as Saajan, KKHH Khamoshi, Tere Naam, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and Garv. I don't enjoy his Dabbangg films and other films after 2009, but i do watch most of his films. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was a joke of a film and a character which was a caricature of likes of Amol Palekar and Farrook Sheikh's portrayal of innocent men.Krish | Talk 06:35, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Indeed. Nawazuddin and Harshali were far better and believable than Salman in that film. He has been typecast in similar action hero roles thanks to the success of Wanted, i opine. I also prefer to watch SRK in films such as Baazigar, Swades, Chak De India and Don 2 to those cliched romances and stupid films like HNY. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 08:01, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Absolutely right. SRK did his best in these films and i hated him in JHT, HNY, and CE. He was damn good in Don 2. As compared to first Don (2006), where Chopra stole the show (ask critics) with her action heroine avatar, SRK did a great job in the sequel. But but...a mind numbing film is coming (a torment of DDLJ indeed) titled Dilwale by the biggest joke of a director Rohit "senseless cum car blasting" Shetty.Krish | Talk 08:54, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
@Krish!: I'll give a look at Dilwale for Johny Lever. I love the guy.  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 09:16, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
I am of the opinion that all the films starring SRK and Kajol together were meaningful choices though few were melodramatic at times. Looks like they are going to break this with Dilwale. Kriti Sanon did choose interesting subjects here in Telugu, and i am waiting what she has to do in a Rohit Shetty's film. Ditto with Varun Dhawan whose Badlapur remains my favourite till date. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 15:55, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Well, Badlapur, is Varun Dhawan's only good film. It's strange that a turkey like ABCD 2 crossed 100 crores.Krish | Talk 17:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

ICTF FAQ

Hi Kailash, regarding this edit, I noticed that you indicated IndiaGlitz fails WP:RS. In case you are not aware, I'm working on a reliable sources FAQ for the ICTF and I could use all the help possible from the community. Currently IndiaGlitz is in my "not yet determined" table, but if you can find evidence that it was determined to not be reliable by the community, that would be very helpful. In fact, any contributions you could make to that page would be appreciated and would help the community. Feel free to edit it directly. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:52, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Cyphoidbomb, thank you for the news. I cannot do anything to prove the site's reliability/notability other than just showing any external site that references it. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:20, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
I remember yourself concluding that IndiaGlitz is a RS at a discussion at the RSN. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:56, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
That was my conclusion, not an admin's. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:34, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
So, was Bladesmutti just wasting his time there? Why didn't you get the admins convinced? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:14, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
I thought he was convinced, so I just stopped taking it further. But I hope Cyphoidbomb saves the day. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:17, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
He should, because Bladesmulti has been blocked indefinitely. I don't say that i'm a fan of IndiaGlitz, but i find it on par with Sify and more reliable than Behindwoods. Anyways, i know, TRPoD will support it. BTW, watch this teaser and decide whether Bengal Tiger is an action film or a masala film. I'm really unable to conclude. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:22, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
IMO, it looks like the quintessential South Indian action film. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:52, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Let the theatrical trailer be released. Then i will decide. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:21, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Good idea. I'm yet to make a GA out of any 90s film. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:10, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
I would be happy to see anyone of them as a GA by/on December 12. If by, a DYK on December 12 will be a good, small idea. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:13, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Can you give me a few genuine examples of action thrillers? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 09:08, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

You may check the article. But IMO, some examples should be Face/Off, Speed, Dirty Harry and Zero Dark Thirty. I also think most action thrillers should be dark, gritty, suspenseful and unpredictable. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:42, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
How about Ram Gopal Varma's Udhayam and Gaayam? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 09:47, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
BTW, i require your help here. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:05, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
As for the above two films, the latter has already been listed as a political thriller. I don't know about the former. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:20, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Dude would you stop getting rid of my additions The cast list for War for the Planet of the Apes lists them as cast members so stop being a douche and look at imdb and look at the cast. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.62.130.46 (talk) 06:06, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Dude, IMDb fails WP:RS, as per this policy. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:45, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Would you please take a look at my FLC. Thanks.Krish | Talk 15:53, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, I have no time. I don't think I'll ever conduct another FL review as it is strenuous to review and find errors/places needing improvement. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:18, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
