What have we been up to?

[edit]
  • Giantflightlessbirds: I'm still wrapping up work with the National Science Challenges, and have been running lunchtime webinars (terrible word) for researchers. The first was on working with Wikipedia, the next two are on copyright and Creative Commons for scientists. I've been awarded the 2025 Wikipedian at Large grant, which will be half-time for the whole year and focussed on Banks Peninsula. This will be run a little differently and I hope more effectively) than in 2024, with potential field trips and retreats to different parts of the Peninsula for those who are keen to travel further afield.
  • Alexeyevitch has been traveling throughout the South Island and Banks Peninsula. I've been working thru various New Zealand articles (notably Opawa (now GA)). I was inspired to work on a suburb article after reading Māngere Bridge (suburb) (GA).
  • MurielMary: keeping the facebook page and group updated, a little editing and writing.
  • Cloventt: worked with another editor on Edmonds_Band_Rotunda; wrote Colin Meurk
  • General discussion about the potential for creating content on the Waitaki district e.g. Kurow Museum information about the beginnings of the social security system, Vanished World about the GeoPark and its sites, the North Otago Memorial Oaks.
  • General discussion about the articles on Ferrymead Heritage Park and Ferrymead Railway
  • David Palmer//cloventt (talk): As already mentioned have written some new articles for people and businesses in chch/Canterbury; wrote a bot for monitoring macron madness MacronMonitor; taken part in some noticeboard dicussions; been involved a bit at AfD; planning to get involved at GAN and AfC in the future as time permits.
