Adam Habib Jogee[1] is a British Labour Party politician who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Newcastle-under-Lyme since the 2024 general election.

Career[edit]

Jogee was a councillor for Haringey London Borough Council (Hornsey ward) and served as Mayor of Haringey alongside a role working with Labour MP Ruth Jones in the Shadow Defra team. He was selected as Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate for Newcastle-under-Lyme in April 2023.[2]

Jogee resigned from his council role when Rishi Sunak, the prime minister at the time, called a general election to take place on 4 July 2024, leading to a Haringey Council by-election for Hornsey to take place on the same day as the general election.[3][4] He was elected with a majority of 5,069.[5]

Personal life[edit]

Jogee is a Muslim, and has spoken out about being referred to as a 'monkey' and 'Jihadi Jogee' due to his race and religion.[6]
