Season chronology

The fifth season of Big Brother (stylized as Big Brother: Code 525) premiered on SSG TV. It ran for 78 days and featured 18 housemates. This is the first season with more than four finalists, two-in-one finalists, the most Power of Veto non-usages, and a female winner.

After 78 days, Kervy Cantomayor was crowned winner against runner-up Levi Caldeo. Elijah Enoch Vergara, Paul Ceezar Asmod, Mardy Besana & Hazel Diwa, and Raphael Corros finished as finalists. At the finale, it was announced that Big Brother was renewed for a sixth season by SSG TV, which would turn out to be an all-star season. Voting for the twelve all-star participants started on the same evening and ended one month later.

Development

Auditions

Due to the overwhelming success of the previous season, auditions for the fourth season were opened during the penultimate episode of the previous season. Auditions were reopened to former OLGAnian Big Brother and new housemates, aged 13 and up who have lived in the province of Capiz for at least four years.

Prizes

The winner will receive ₱2,000,000, while the runner-up will receive ₱1,000,000, and the third placer will receive ₱500,000. Finalists placing below third will receive ₱250,000.

Hosts

All of the previous season's hosts will return for the new season.

Format

Each week, at least three housemates will be nominated; the Head of House is responsible for selecting the first two housemates for eviction, with the other being decided by nomination vote of the other housemates, with the top two (or more if a tie occurs) highest vote-getters up for eviction. Nominees must first compete in the Techno Turf Showdown to save themselves from eviction, followed by the Power of Veto ceremony in which one of them is saved and replaced by another unnominated housemate, before the final nominees are voted on by the public, with one being evicted.

Twists

• Two-in-one Housemates: On Day 1, Mardy Besana and Hazel Diwa, a couple, entered the house as two-in-one housemates. As an added twist, Big Brother only allowed one of them to enter the house and forced them to keep their relationship a secret until the end of the week.
• Power of Veto: Similar to the Save and Replace twist, the veto holder can save a nominee from eviction but must select a replacement nominee.
  • PoV Challenge: The Head of House automatically receives the Power of Veto, but one housemate has the ability to steal it through a challenge.
• New Nomination Format: Every week, there will be at least three nominees. The Head of House will be responsible for nominating two housemates for eviction, with the remaining two decided by the vote of the other housemates. The first nominee will be saved through the Techno Turf Showdown, while the second will be saved by the veto holder.
  • One Point Nominations: Each of the housemates' two nominations will now be worth one point, rather than the usual two and one.
  • One Nomination: Beginning in Week 6, two housemates can combine their two nominations into a single nomination worth two points to any housemate of their choosing. It was disabled on Week 11.
• Techno Turf Showdown: The first four nominees will compete for safety at the Techno Turf Showdown, with one of them saved from eviction.
