W type carriage into Victorian Railways Short W type carriage and Victorian Railways Long W type carriage (requested by @Anothersignalman:) :: I can history-merge W type carriage into Victorian Railways Short W type carriage or into Victorian Railways Long W type carriage, but not into both, because in the English Wikipedia an edit history cannot be duplicated. The Joker (ride) was cut and pasted from The Joker (Six Flags Great Adventure) in September 2016. Further, multiple rides are named "The Joker", so after histmerging, this needs to be renamed. As this set of coasters was built by S&S The Joker (S&S Worldwide) should be the destination name, due to multiple Six Flags locations having coasters named "The Joker" built by other companies, and this article covers multiple Six Flags coasters built by S&S. -- 65.94.168.229 (talk) 06:19, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

There is confusion in the histories between David Moon (a disambiguation page) and David A. Moon. It went back and forth between a dab page and a bio page for David A. Moon, involving some cut-and-paste parts, then "David Moon" was finally moved to "David A. Moon", but I can't figure out which edits go where. I hope someone here can. - @Ronhjones: As regards a history-merge, Johnny Strange (adventurer) looks like a new start from a stub and not copied in from anywhere else. In Johnny Strange, the first edit where the performer intrudes seems to be at 20:51, 22 March 2015‎ by Jh737kh; the first edit where the adventurer was eliminated is at 22:40, 22 March 2015‎ by Jh737kh. Jh737kh and Ashcastle may have thought that these two Johnny Stranges were the same man. The change of subject happened gradually over several edits, so there is no specific cut-and-paste point. After Johnny Strange (adventurer) was started, people may have over time copied matter in from old edits of Johnny Strange. Best put history notes in their talk pages. @Anthony Appleyard: I ask that this request be deleted. User is presuming that I took something from what an IP address created at their unsourced stub, when I didn't, and the history proves there are significant differences. I used the artist's previous single as a basis for the infobox and lead sentence, and compiled everything else myself. Histmerges should only happen when it is clear a cut-and-paste has taken place. I've been attempting to repair disruption caused by socks of User:The abominable Wiki troll. They did a couple cut and paste moves to Joan of Arc (OMD song) and Joan of Arc (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark song). - @Pppery:: To avoid WP:Parallel histories, the last edit of Template:Proposed deletion which could be moved to Template:Proposed deletion/dated, would be 11:42, 13 April 2006‎ by Ruud Koot, as Template:Proposed deletion/dated's oldest edit is at 12:02, 13 April 2006‎ by Sherool. But still, that move would cut one history to rejoin another history. That problem arises whenever a page is copy-and-pasted and after that two parallel versions continue. - @Pppery:: It is not the same. When a page's history forks and continues as two pages, there is no point in cutting one history to rejoin the other history. Best put a history note in the relevant talk pages. History forks are a headache and a nuisance, but they happen. (On the German Wikipedia, the history before the fork can be "cloned" (i.e. duplicated), to make a copy to history-merge into the daughter page, but that cannot be done in the English Wikipedia.) - @Pppery:: The same happens with the reverse, i.e. two pages (say A and B) being text-merged into one. If page B is text-merged into page A, often a user asks me to history-merge B into A, and always I must reject the request due to WP:Parallel histories. @Zfish118: Move the edits before and including 18:59, 3 June 2016 of page List of Franciscan organizations, to be attached to the start of page Order of Friars Minor's edit history (and lose the stray redirect edit at the start of Order of Friars Minor's edit history) (requested at 01:58, 11 January 2017‎ by User:Zfish118 in Talk:Order of Friars Minor). Reason for my query: 01:58, 11 January 2017‎ was a copy-and-paste point, causing a history fork, and obeying this request would cut one edit history to rejoin another edit history.
