Hospitaller colonization of the Americas had been moved to Territorial possessions of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta a year and a half ago without discussion. The user who performed the move added additional sections to the content to change it to a list. An admin at WP:RM said that moving it back would have to be done manually. Consensus emerged to restore the old content at the original location (Hospitaller colonization of the Americas). I did that by copy-paste. I submitted a request at WP:GAR to restore the article's GA status. An admin there said I should come here instead and request to have the history restored. Fishal (talk) 19:17, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

@Bonadea, Wikieditorchoice, and Argento Surfer: Not done Madhan (writer) to Madhan: WP:Parallel histories; and page Madhan has been in a long WP:edit war between an article about the writer and a 2-member disambig page, and it cannot be tidily history-split between these 2 topics. Thanks for the ping. I'm sorry - I thought that the history of Madhan could be split, so that the history before 22 August could be merged into Madhan (writer) with Madhan kept as a dab page. I would not want to remove the dab page at this point, not while both articles exist. As for the "edit war" it is discussed at Talk:Madhan as well as at this SPI. Brief version: three obvious socks overwrote the article about the writer with an article about an actor by the same name and has since tried to erase the uses of "Madhan" for the writer. It is unfortunately not a new or unique marketing tactic. There are many sources suporting the spelling with a "h" for the writer but none for the "h"-less spelling. Note also that one of the three sock accounts has been blocked indefinitely for disruption (the one that was tagged above). In any case, this is not the place to solve that situation. The articles Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago and Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe appear to be on the same topic, judging by the identical list of winners. It looks like a history merge was done back in June 2015, and some of the editing history seems to be missing as it is not attached to either of these pages; it appears to be the edits now found at Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago Pageant. *:Thanks, — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:06, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Diannaa: Not done Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago and Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe are WP:Parallel histories. Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago Pageant is unlikely to be a cut-and-paste-from old version of either of them, due to the time gap (ignoring redirect edits) and textual differences across the supposed cut-and-paste moves. - @Mr. Smart LION: The purpose of history-merging is to rejoin an edit history which has been cut and separated by a cut-and-paste move, so that if necessary people can track down the history list of all edits and find who first inserted each bit of text. But the first edits of Gold (2018 film) and Poster Boys are completely different in detail from the last text edits (except redirects) of Gold (2018 Film) and Poshter Boyz (Hindi film), and it seems clear to me that Gold (2018 film) and Poster Boys started as new starts in new pages, likeliest with no copying-and-pasting from Gold (2018 Film) and Poshter Boyz (Hindi film).
