Season chronology

The ninth season of Big Brother (stylized as Big Brother: Nine Nation) premiered on SSG TV. It ran for 100 days and featured 22 housemates.

This is the second season in a row, following the previous season, that follows the format first used on Seven Up due to popular demand, and viewers preferred this format over the previous formats used in the first five seasons. This season will also mark the end of the series' revival, as OLGAnian Big Brother: Final Challenge 4 was canceled due to the series' reformat, but the network says the series is still open to being reincarnated in the coming years.

After 100 days, Diana Maree Garcia won the season; Ernesto Ortiz III came in second, and Michael John Demalata finished third. Eron Buhangin, Ricky Martin Delfin, and Chaddy Ledesma took fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively. This is the only season in which the losers of the head-to-head voting were considered finalists rather than evictees, increasing the number of finalists to six from the usual three.

Development

Auditions

Due to the overwhelming success of the previous four seasons, auditions for the ninth season of the show were opened during the final episode of Big Brother: Elev8. Auditions were reopened to former OLGAnian Big Brother and new housemates, aged 13 and up who have lived in the province of Capiz for at least four years.

All hosts that hosted the previous season are set to reprise their roles for this season. John Loyd Corros was promoted as main host on the second week.

Prizes

The winner will receive ₱3,000,000, while the runner-up will receive ₱2,000,000, the third placer will receive ₱1,000,000, and finalists placing fourth, fifth, and sixth will receive ₱500,000, ₱250,000, and ₱100,000 respectively.

Format

Twists

• Launch Night Twist: The housemates are told that they will immediately nominate two people for eviction. However, the twist is that the two nominees will actually become the first Heads of Household.
• No Nominations: On Day 50, Big Brother and the hosts announced that there will be no nominations for the rest of the season, with nominees determined by the results of both Vote-to-Evict sessions and Ligtask challenges.
