Nomination for merging of Template:IPC profile

[edit]

Template:IPC profile has been nominated for merging with Template:IPC athlete. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Thank you. Fram (talk) 08:41, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I arrived at your talk page after looking in the history of {{Sports links}}. I have a question regarding this as European Athletics changed their website and this now means that links go to a 404 page - see for example the link at Ibrahim Ezzaydouni. I must say I haven't yet been able to find the athlete profiles in the new website. Would you perhaps know how we might hide these links for now until either the links or identifiers have been fixed? Please let me know if there is a different place where I should ask this question; I currently don't know about templates / Wikidata integration to fix it myself. Thanks, Simeon (talk) 19:31, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:LFLC logo.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:LFLC logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:30, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of IXD

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on IXD, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. AWB

[edit]

It seems that you tidied up manually after you had moved Veronica Cochela. Just checking that you are aware of AutoWikiBrowser; helps immensely with such tasks. Schwede66 18:32, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Schwede66: I do use AutoWikiBrowser, just chose not to for that small number of manual edits. In fact, I was using AWB to add Olympic links in that same article when I noticed the name was incorrect. Thanks. -- Zyxw (talk) 23:36, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, are you still working on this module? I ask because you've also recently edited Template:ATP, which seems redundant to it, and I'm looking to do something similar for tournament IDs. Template:Sports links does work for main tournament articles, but not for their yearly edition and event articles, so I'm wondering if we could get it working for them as well. Thanks, Somnifuguist (talk) 19:00, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Somnifuguist: At this point, I'd say it works. The only maintenance is adding new Wikidata sports link properties to Module:External links/conf/Sports. When this was created on enwiki there did not seem to be a consensus to switch from away from the existing single link templates, so I have continued updating those as well. If the sports links you want to include have Wikidata properties, they could be added. -- Zyxw (talk) 20:27, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, the doc says it's still in alpha and it hadn't been edited in a couple of years so I wasn't sure. The difficulty with tournament links is the mechanism is a bit different. For main tournament articles, e.g. Swedish Open, fetching the property ATP tennis tournament ID (P3456) "bastad/316" to link http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/tournaments/bastad/316/overview is easy with your module, but for individual editions and their events, e.g. 2019 Swedish Open and 2019 Swedish Open – Men's Singles, what's needed is to fetch the same property from Swedish Open's item to make the links https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bastad/316/2019/ and https://www.atptour.com/en/scores/archive/bastad/316/2019/draws?matchType=Singles. The items are linked with instance of (P31) (edition→tournament) and part of (P361) (event→edition), but I'm not sure whether such more complicated queries are possible with your module or whether a custom module/template would be needed. TV guide

[edit]

Hey, thanks for fixing that template. If you get a chance, can you look at Template:TV Guide show and Template:TV Guide person also? --Gonnym (talk) 23:52, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gonnym: I fixed the URL for {{TV Guide show}} and {{TV Guide person}} so the links generated by each template should work now. The TVGuide.com ID numbers have changed, but the URL currently works with both the old and new ID numbers. See each template's documentation for more details. -- Zyxw (talk) 01:51, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Zyxw,

I think there might be a reluctance from admins patrolling speedy deletion categories to move a template that is transcluded on a number of pages because of the potential for disruption. You might get a speedier response by bringing it to WP:RM or contacting an admin like Plastikspork who frequents WP:TFD and is more familiar with templates and the impact of deleting and moving them. Just a suggestion. Liz Read! Talk! 03:29, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. Before I was able to follow up, I found that my requested move was already completed. -- Zyxw (talk) 08:57, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Eliteprospects

[edit]

Hello! I see You edited Template:Eliteprospects. In Polish Wikipedia we have problem with the similar template Szablon:Elitepro and lately the URL EliteProspects links are not valid in the Wikipedia sites (for example see here: Tony Vidgren). Could You help and propably fix this template in Polish Wikipedia? Lowdown (talk) 07:09, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lowdown: From the history page for pl:Szablon:Elitepro, I can see the template worked as expected (ID number in 1st parameter) until May/June of this year, when user pl:Wikipedysta:Adaś17 had changed it to require the 1st parameter be a single letter, the 2nd parameter to be the ID number, an optional 3rd parameter for an awards URL (shown below), and an optional 4th parameter for the link text (defaults to the page name). Letters in the 1st parameter may be one of the following:
p for https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/{{{2}}}/-
s for https://www.eliteprospects.com/staff/{{{2}}}/-
t for https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/{{{2}}}/-
l for https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/{{{2}}}
n for https://www.eliteprospects.com/nation/{{{2}}}
a for https://www.eliteprospects.com/awards/{{{2}}}?name={{{3}}}
d for https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft/{{{2}}}
Otherwise, the template defaults to https://www.eliteprospects.com. That impacts 2,651 articles in Polish Wikipedia using the Elitepro template with a number in the first parameter, such as pl:Tony Vidgren which uses {{Elitepro|11935}}.
There are only 15 articles in Polish Wikipedia using the Elitepro template with a letter in the first parameter and all of them are player links, such as in pl:Mariusz Czerkawski which uses {{Elitepro|p|1467}}.
My suggestion is revert the template to this working version from 17:46, 16 October 2011 and then update those 15 articles. You might also want to contact the user who changed the template. -- Zyxw (talk) 10:58, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Macedonian male mixed martial artists indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Date ties

[edit]

MOS:DATETIES only applies to countries with a national variety of English. In Hungary a date would not be written "21 May 2020" or "May 21, 2020," so there is no basis to prefer the former over the latter in Wikipedia. Google translate suggests that in Hungary this date might be written "2020. május 21", which shows the issue explicitly. Please don't change date formats that have been established in articles for persons not strongly associated with an English-speaking nation. Quale (talk) 20:05, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
